Fusing together yoga and pilates in a flowing class to music, focusing on different parts of the body. Arms, back, legs, thighs, tummy. This is an all level class and I always give modifications for the beginner. Build strength, stamina, flexibility, healthy bones and joints, stretch out and lengthen the body even more with yoga poses in between pilates exercises and towards the end of the class. Incorporating some cardio workouts to satisfy more fat burning within. This class is very gentle on the body. Gentle enough for everyone young and old. Acheive that lean toned body, while acheiving calmness in mind and body. Such a great combination. Focus inwards, become aware of your alignment, and aware of your body from the inside out.

workout at home

Have trouble staying motivated at home? Create an inspiration board to help you stay healthy. Cut out pictures of healthy yummy foods, recipes, smoothies, different workouts you can do at home, clothes you want to wear, even a photo of a celebrity with a fit body. Remeber the goal is to become healthy from the inside out. So stay away from looking at pictures of models that are too skinny, and most of them are 15 years old anyways, who wants a body of a 15 year old? (unless of course you are 15)
If your practicing yoga or pilates, or both, try adding in some other toning exercises too. Squats, lunges, jumping jacks, bum dips, dust off the old elliptical or treadmill and use it everyday. Start with 20 minutes and work your way up. A 20 minute work out is better than a 0 minute work out. And always relax for 5 to 10 minutes at the end of your work out, to connect with your body, mind, soul and notice the changes within yourself.

cottage cheese, raspberry and banana sundae!

I love having this snack in the afternoon or as my late night snack. Low fat 1% cottage cheese, frozen (defrosted) raspberries with the juice, and a mini banana. And always in a pretty dish too! Makes it taste so much better! :) SO healthy with just the right amount of sweetness.

workout with results

I recently read that the best way to really burn fat is to start your workout with toning exercises. That way you can give it your 100%! This way your metabolism stays boosted for a longer period of time and you gain a long lean toned body. Afterwards cardio it up! This will pull stored fat for use as energy to keep burning those calories. Give it a try!

tone it up and get healthy from the inside out

Set an intention every night before you go to bed about what it is you want to accomplish in the morning. The truth is, most of us are too busy during the day to spend time on our selves. I find the morning is the best time for me time. I just started to add the elliptical into my morning routine. First I must say that I do NOT enjoy running! So I must put it inside my mind that this is what I WANT to do as part of my life to stay healthy. I’m starting at 45 minutes Monday to Friday, then a one hour power yoga. I work from home these days so I also find it in my day to do at least 30 minutes of pilates. Before I go to bed, my husband does an hour of yoga with me to wind down and stretch out. Once you start to make small efforts every day the weight and inches will come off naturally, you will start to eat more healthy because your mind and body will also naturally crave those healthy foods, and the most important thing is how you feel about yourself. We all probably have a goal weight and size in mind,and I have lost 7 inches of jiggle that creeped up on me without me even noticing. So become aware of what you put inside your body, and stay active. All year around!
So go ahead, set that intention inside your mind tonight before you head to bed.

Weekend Retreat

Hello everyone!
Registration for the weekend retreat ends on May 31. If your interested in coming, and still have questions about the retreat, please give me a call or send me an email. Your retreat includes all meals, and snacks, accomodations, twice daily yoga. Not to forget it is located about an hour away in a remote place with beautiful views, where you can journal, take a little hike, and just enjoy being out with nature. So affordable! New studio location (April)

Starting April 1st, classes will be held at Starchevsky’s School of Ballet. Located at 201, 200 Country Hills Landing NW. The studio is located on the 2nd floor and there is plenty of parking. There will be space for more student’s. Even though there is more space, we will still have small groups with a relaxed, social atmosphere. Classes will be held Monday evenings at 7:45pm (Yoga/pilates fusion) and Thursday evenings at 8:25pm (yoga). Please get in touch with me to inquire about classes or to sign up.

Airdrie classes have been cancelled in March. Due to low numbers. If there is enough interest for April, hopefully we can start then. Please contact with your interest in day’s and times. Friday evenings would be a great day!
